How to resolve issues pairing your Roku TV Wireless Soundbar

Before you can enjoy an enhanced listening experience, you must first connect your Roku TV Wireless Soundbar to a TV powered by Roku OS. This is done through a discovery process called pairing which sets up a secure wireless connection with your wireless soundbar. Because this pairing information is retained even when your devices are powered off, it is typically only necessary to pair your wireless soundbar one time. When your soundbar is connected to your TV, the speakers inside the TV are disabled.

Your Roku TV Wireless Soundbar only works with a TV powered by Roku OS. It will not work with other types of TVs or a Roku streaming player. Learn how to determine if you have a Roku TV. Why am I unable to put my TV in pairing mode?

After you plug the power cable into your Roku TV Wireless Soundbar, you will hear instructions asking you to put your TV in pairing mode with the following steps:

  1. Make sure your TV is powered on
  2. Press and hold Home home button on Roku remote on your TV remote for 5 seconds
  3. Select Wireless soundbar and confirm

Once your TV is in pairing mode, you will see a screen like the following:

If your TV does not enter pairing mode, review the suggestions below:

  • Use the existing remote: You must use your existing TV remote to enter pairing mode and be sure to point it directly at the TV screen.
  • Install fresh batteries: Replace the existing batteries in your Roku remote with new matching batteries.
  • Check the software version: Your TV must be running Roku OS 10.0 or higher to work with a Roku TV Wireless Soundbar. If you have not done so yet, check the software version of your Roku TV.
  • Manually enter pairing mode: Go to Settings > Remotes & devices > Set up a new device > Wireless soundbar.

Once your TV is in pairing mode, it will move through the setup process automatically and connect your wireless soundbar.

Why is my wireless soundbar not found?

When your TV is searching for your Roku TV Wireless Soundbar, it may not be able to find it if:

  • Your soundbar is not powered on: When you connect the power cable, your soundbar powers on and automatically enters pairing mode, and remains in pairing mode until it connects to your TV. To check if your soundbar is powered on and in pairing mode, look for a status LED that flashes repeatedly as pairing instructions are repeated periodically. If you do not see light from the LED, check that the power outlet is working and try reconnecting the power cable.
  • Your soundbar is too far from your TV: Your wireless soundbar is designed to be placed within 30 feet of your TV. Try pairing your wireless soundbar again after moving it closer.
  • There is wireless interference: Avoid installing your wireless soundbar near other wireless devices like your wireless router or a microwave. It is best to have direct line of sight from your soundbar to your TV with no electronics, metal, or concrete obstructing the path. Move your soundbar and try pairing it again.
  • Your soundbar is paired to another TV: Press and hold the Reset button on the back of your soundbar for 10 seconds, and then listen for audible instructions to try pairing again. If you do not see a solid status LED or hear the pairing instructions, try resetting your soundbar again making sure to hold the Reset button for 10 seconds. Pressing the Reset button for a short time will only restart your soundbar. It will not factory reset your soundbar.

Why is my wireless soundbar not updating?

When your TV is updating the software for your soundbar, it may encounter issues if:

  • The internet is disconnected: Your soundbar must receive a unique update, meaning an internet connection is necessary for the duration of the pairing process. Check the connection, and when your TV is connected to the internet again, restart the pairing process. If the behavior continues, review the tips for improving the wireless connection.
  • Pairing mode was exited: Review the instructions for setting up your Roku TV Wireless Soundbar, and when ready, restart the pairing process making sure to wait until it completes.

Can I add Roku wireless speakers to my Roku TV Wireless Soundbar?

Roku wireless speakers must be connected to a Roku TV system, Roku Streambar, Roku Streambar Pro, or Roku Smart Soundbar. Wireless speakers cannot be connected directly to a Roku Streambar SE, other TVs, sound systems, or Roku streaming players. You can only use Roku wireless speakers and a Roku TV Wireless Soundbar together if they are paired to a Roku Plus Series TV. Learn more about the different Roku surround sound configurations.

  • Note: When Roku wireless speakers are connected to your Roku TV, the speakers inside your TV are disabled.

Can I add a Roku subwoofer to my wireless soundbar?

You can add a Roku Wireless Bass or Roku Wireless Bass Pro to your Roku TV Wireless Soundbar. A Roku subwoofer enhances your listening experience with deeper, richer bass. Simply connect the power cable and follow the simple setup process to begin hearing and feeling more bass in no time.

Can I pair more than one wireless soundbar to my TV?

You can only pair one Roku TV Wireless Soundbar to your TV. If you are replacing your wireless soundbar, you can factory reset the soundbar that is currently paired, and then pair the new soundbar.
