How to keep your Roku account secure
Your Roku® account stores sensitive information, such as your email and password, payment method, preferences, settings, channel installs, and which Roku devices you own. As with other online accounts, there are certain precautions you should take to make sure that this sensitive information remains private and secure.
Use a valid email address
You must use a valid email address to receive important account notifications, preferably one that you check routinely, to receive important account notifications. Roku uses your email address to contact you about important account, subscription, and billing information. If your email address changes, update your Roku account with the new email so that we can reach you with information.
Choose a strong and secure password
Choose a strong, secure password when creating your Roku account to make safeguard your personal information.
Create a PIN
Create a PIN (Personal Identification Number) to limit who can make purchases through your Roku streaming device and Roku TV, as well well as to add parental controls. Once a PIN has been created, it must be entered to authorize a transaction through Roku or The Roku Channel on Roku streaming devices and Roku TVs. Note: a PIN is not required for Roku Smart Home Subscription purchases.
Avoid phishing websites
Fraudulent sites attempt to steal your confidential information by mimicking the appearance of a legitimate Roku website. For example, while activating a Roku device you may land on a phishing site that asks for a fee to create a Roku account, activate a Roku device, or provide customer support. This is a scam. Roku does not charge to create a Roku account, activate a device, or provide customer support.

Review your Roku account charges periodically
