How to set up a Roku surround sound system
With Roku® audio devices, you can easily add stereo sound or surround sound to any TV without the hassle of wires and complicated setup typical of most surround sound systems.
This article provides information about the different audio configurations you can achieve depending on what TV and Roku audio products you own. This article also provides links to the set up and troubleshooting articles for your Roku sound system.
What are the different Roku sound system configurations?
Before you put together your Roku sound system, determine if you have a Roku TV™ system and what Roku audio devices you have. After you know what devices you have, refer to the sections below for the configurations available for your TV.
Stereo sound with a Roku TV system
If you have Roku TV system, including a Roku Select Series HD TV, Roku Select Series 4K TV, or Roku Plus Series TV, you can set up stereo sound with one of the configurations below.
Surround sound with a Roku Plus Series TV
If you have a Roku Plus Series TV, in addition to the stereo sound configurations above, you can also set up surround sound with one of the configurations below.
Roku sound system with any TV
If you do not have a Roku TV system, you can only set up a Roku sound system using a Roku Streambar® or Roku Streambar Pro in one of the configurations below.
- Tip: You can unlock more surround sound configurations on a Roku TV system, such as 3.1 and 5.1 surround sound, by using a Streambar or Streambar Pro.
